Speaker: Andrew Lindstrom with Cooper Lighting

When: Thursday June 20th at 11am

Purpose: Effective lighting in healthcare environments can, and does, contribute to improved patient outcomes, as well as improved facility safety. Lighting solutions for healthcare facilities must maximize energy efficiency, occupy less space, be flexible and adaptable to different environments, meet life safety requirements, and meet the needs of medical staff, patients, and visitors. This course discusses current lighting trends, energy management and smart hospital requirements, and current legislation affecting lighting design considerations for healthcare facilities.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

    • Discuss how lighting in a healthcare facility contributes to improved patient outcomes through current design trends

    • Discuss latest regulations and standards impacting building codes and affecting lighting design in healthcare facilities

    • Have a comprehensive understanding of the importance of circadian lighting and the circadian cycle

    • Provide the knowledge and skills to design and implement lighting systems that support human health and wellbeing

    • Provide an overview of Germicidal/Ultraviolet Radiation and how it can be used for infection prevention and control.

Please join us for the next session in a series of webinars to discuss sustainability topics that affect the healthcare industry. The State of Colorado requires all facilities over 50,000 SF to meet energy use intensity and GHG emission reduction targets by 2030. Our webinar series explores various technical approaches that hospitals can take to save energy and GHG emissions. Existing building commissioning is proven to be one of the most cost-effective means to improve the performance of existing building systems, identify operational issues, and produce energy savings, typically for less than a 2 year simple payback.

In July’s webinar, we will discuss the following learning objectives:

    1. Why do existing building commissioning? What is the value of the process?
    2. What is existing building commissioning (EBCx)? Understand the EBCx definitions and process.
    3. How should a building owner procure Cx services? What does the Cx team look like? What is expected of the facility team?
    4. What is monitoring based/ongoing commissioning (MBCx)? How is it different than EBCx?
    5. Why should a building owner consider an MBCx approach? What are the pros/cons of a continuous commissioning process?
    6. What are the MBCx process steps and expected outcomes?
    7. What are the MBCx technology requirements? What are the application concerns for healthcare facilities?

This is free for members and $50 for non-members.

Lace up those hiking boots, grab your hiking poles! CAHED will be hosting another scenic 13er hike on July 19th. This year's hike is an out and back hike to Mt Sniktau at 13,234', An easier half-day Class 1 & 2 hike, mostly on trail, 3.9 miles round trip with 1,700’ of vertical.

PLEASE NOTE this hike is high altitude, alpine tundra, above tree line, and over rocky terrain. Please bring adequate footwear, be prepared for chilly weather, bring plenty of water/snacks, and go at your own pace! We anticipate the hike to take 4-5 hours but we’ll be in no hurry and mindful of the weather. CAHED will be doing another hike this fall that will be more casual/social.

LOCATION / PARKING INFO: Mount Sniktau is an easy Class 2 (barely - we're more inclined to call it Class 1 with just a little Class 2 thrown in), stroll from the summit of Loveland Pass, hence accessible by most any passenger vehicle.

    DATE: 7/19/24

TIME: 8:00 AM Meet-Up/Networking; 8:45 AM approximate start

    • August 23, 2024

Sponsors this year will only be CAHED's platinum sponsors.  If you want to have your name on a hole (or setup a booth on the course), you must be a 2024 platinum sponsor.
