CAHED Collaboration & Innovation Awards 

Recognizing teamwork and communication in developing innovative health care spaces.

CAHED would like to highlight project teams/professionals who are at the forefront of health care design and construction innovation. We would like to recognize teams who work together to develop and maintain safe, quality health care environments; demonstrate effective and efficient communication and share lessons learned.



Award benefits include:

  • Project board on display at the 2024 CAHED Trade Show

 CAHED Awards are given in 3 categories.

 New Construction

This award is presented to a team that is currently designing or has constructed a new facility essentially from the ground up. 

 Renovation

This award is presented to a team that has altered existing conditions or added new space to existing structures. 


 Product

This award is presented to a product that has been developed or used in an innovative way to solve a problem in the health care realm.


Requirements for Eligibility

Eligible applicants include design professionals and other individuals working with the design and construction of hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, long-term care facilities, and medical buildings. One member of the team must be a CAHED member.

CAHED Collaboration & Innovation Award Application Form

The Collaboration & Innovation Award is sponsored by the Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers and Directors (CAHED) a local chapter of the American Society for Heath Care Engineering (ASHE)


Requirements for Eligibility

Eligible applicants include design professionals and other individuals working with the design and construction of hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, long-term care facilities, and medical buildings. One member of the team must be a CAHED member.

  • Entries must be submitted by Friday April 5th, 2024
  • Submit application form toKatie VanderPutten at KVanderPutten@moaarch.com
  • Electronic submissions over 10 MB will need to be sent via dropbox or FTP site. 
  • Awards will be presented at 2024 CAHED Trade Show on Thursday May 3rd, 2024

Preparing the Award Submission

SECTION I – GENERAL INFORMATION

A. Identify Team Members, Name, Organization, Role on Project

      • The team must include at least one (1) active CAHED member who has been a member for one (1) year or longer.

A. Description of the project, and what phase the project is currently at.

      • Are you submitted this for New Construction, Renovation, or Product Award

B. One to Two high-resolution color photos that addresses lesson learned, or before and after shot. Please do not send just a pretty picture.


SECTION II – TEAM APPROACH / TEAM COLLABORATION

Address the following in 1000 words or less

Provide written documentation of the team’s performance. In your narrative, describe what was unique and notable about the team’s overall performance in terms of:

      • Pre-planning, development, and implementation stages
      • Communication on project development and status
      • Meeting the organization’s strategic and master plans
      • Time management
      • Financial considerations for completing the project on time and on budget
      • Commissioning
      • Supporting the needs of the community
      • Enhancing staff productivity
      • Maintaining facility performance during various project phases
      • Supporting an organizational realignment
      • Delivery method


SECTION III – TEAM CHALLENGES / LESSONS LEARNED / TEAM INNOVATION 

Address the following in 1000 words or less

Describe the obstacles you overcame and how you addressed them. Obstacles are events or situations that, if not addressed, would have prevented you from carrying out other strategies or kept you from fully meeting your goals. Describe lesson learned or innovation that your team developed to address an obstacle on the project.
