Letter from the President
I would like to start out by saying a special thanks to Jim Siffring, Mark Keeler and Don Armijo from Wagner Power Systems, along with Brian Langlois from Children’s Hospital Colorado for their great presentation on Generators last week. The presentation was very informative and covered multiple perspectives of generators from design all the way up to testing and maintenance operations within a hospital. We also had the wonderful opportunity to hear from Gail Finley from CHA who updated the group on House Bill 12-1268 and its progression. We had over 40 attendees and this was FREE to all current CAHED members. I would say that overall, last week’s Seminar was a great success.
The trade show has a new location for 2012 and will be held on May 10th and 11th. We will be in the Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center this year. We are simply growing each and every year and have outgrown the Inverness. This year we will increase the number of vendor booths from 75 up to 90 and we have already sold out of all our booths. Vendors, if you are still interested please visit the email us to be placed on a waiting list.
This year’s main conference speakers and topics are as follows:
- The Joint Commission updates
- Presented by Mike Chisholm, CPE, CHFM, Engineer, Department of Engineering
- ASHE Advocacy
- ASHE represents hospitals nationally within many different codes or standards making organizations. Chad will discuss current grassroots advocacy efforts within ASHE and how you can get involved in the codes and standards development process.
- Presented by Chad E Beebe, AIA, CHFM,
This year’s Tool Belt line up will feature the following topics:
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE TWO DAY MAY 10-11 CAHED SEMINAR TO REGISTER YOUR ASSOCIATES FOR THE TOOLBELT CLASSES!
- Introduction to Basic Electricity for the Non-Electrician

- Facility Staff; How do I Fit Into the Commissioning Process
- Presented by m+nlb (Mazzetti Nash Lipsey Burch)
- Tool Belt Boot Camp
- This is the first time this has been offered to a state ASHE Chapter and has very limited registration. This class is primarily for associates whom their managers, supervisors and directors feel would benefit from insight in to management areas of healthcare facilities. This class was first presented in Seattle last summer at the ASHE Annual. CAHED is the first State Chapter of ASHE to offer this class to aspiring associates; you may nominate up to three per facility; you must be registered for the CAHED May 10-11 Meeting to be able to nominate.
As always, this year’s lineup is outstanding! Many thanks to all that helped put together the list of speakers and classes.
Hospital Directors, Manager, Supervisors and Staff Members etc…May 10th and 11th is just around the corner, I would strongly encourage you to get online and register for this fantastic event.
Vendors, Architects, Engineers, and Consultants etc…Reach out to everyone you know and have worked with in the past and currently…Encourage them to register before it is too late.
