The presentation will explain the changes to the Joint Commission survey process that becomes effective on January 1, 2004. Some of these changes include revisions to the scoring, the use of “tracer methodology” to probe deeply into problem areas and a self-assessment tool that will be required to be completed by all accredited facilities prior to on-site visit from the survey team.

In addition to the survey changes, this presentation will also explain how the entire Joint Commission manual has been re-edited to reflect the intent statements; the “EC” standards are now included in nine separate sections and the use of proactive risk assessments are now an important part of the requirements.
